Arjan Schimmel is the new chairman of the ZuivelNL chain organization. The dairy farmer from Linschoten, who is also chairman of the board of cooperative DOC Kaas, succeeds Jorrit Jorritsma, who stepped down at the beginning of December 2020 for health reasons.
ZuivelNL, the organization of dairy farmers (LTO Nederland, NMV) and the dairy industry (NZO), announced this on Monday. The appointment took place at the General Meeting of ZuivelNL via a written round, in connection with the corona measures.
Schimmel (47) has been chairman of DOC Kaas for more than 10 years, but will step down from this position on 17 May 2021, because his term of office will then expire. Since the merger in 2016, the dairy farmer has also represented DOC Kaas on the Supervisory Board of the German dairy group DMK.
Strengthen unity
The experienced driver is waiting for a tough job, because last week it was announced that the receipt is in DairyNL on the occupational health plan (BGP). The NMV in particular feels passed over in this decision-making process. In the statement of ZuivelNL, Schimmel himself states that he is working through the organization to create a better earnings model for farmers with a practical interpretation of legislation and regulations. I want to use my knowledge, experience and network to connect the various parties within ZuivelNL. , to strengthen the unity within the dairy farming sector and to further build a strong and solid organization for all dairy farmers and dairies in the Netherlands."
