Farmers Defense Force (FDF) has canceled the action at FrieslandCampina's head office tomorrow morning (Wednesday 3 March). According to the farmers' movement, there is no agreement among dairy farmers whether FDF should carry out this demonstration. The board does, however, provide a laundry list of recommendations to FrieslandCampina to comply with.
FDF announces this on its website. Chairman Mark van den Oever announced Another tractor action this afternoon at the head office of the dairy cooperative in Amersfoort. The reason for this was the presentation of the annual figures for 2020, in which FrieslandCampina indicated that there is no scope to make a supplementary payment on the milk price for the affiliated member dairy farmers.
In a statement, FDF now says that it has received many statements of support from dairy farmers, who believe that the lack of a supplementary payment is unacceptable. However, opinions differed on whether FDF should make this displeasure known. The board of FDF has subsequently decided to cancel the action, it said.
In the coming days, the members of FrieslandCampina will consult digitally with the board and management of the dairy group about the annual figures. FDF therefore gives them a list of advice† In the statement, the farmers' movement states, among other things, that 'RFC NV lives beyond its means, while many administrative matters are also lacking.' And: 'RFC has to go back to basics: processing milk for the highest milk price, side issues that do not contribute to this: disposal.' The recommendations are also based on the latter position.
According to the board, one element is non-negotiable and that is that Hein Schumacher, the CEO of FrieslandCampina, should no longer 'interfere' with the FDF initiative FarmerFriendly and the negotiations about it that FDF conducts with the supermarkets, united in the CBL.
