Vreugdenhil milk price rises and falls at the same time

The milk price of Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods shows both an increase and decrease for the month of February. The dairy processor itself adds a little extra to the milk price, but due to the disappearance of the winter bonus, that price is still lower than before January. The organic milk price takes another step up.

The basic milk price of Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods for February is €33,02 per 100 kilos. This is 4,42% fat, 3,57% protein and an annual supply of 1 million kilos. Remarkably enough, the milk price shows both an increase and a decrease. The milk price itself increases by €0,44 per 100 kilos due to a higher fat rating (€3 per kilo), but due to the disappearance of the winter bonus of €3,90, the price for February drops sharply.

Vreugdenhil itself communicates a milk price of €34,65 per 100 kilos. This excludes VAT, for an annual supply of 1,1 million kilos of milk, 4,42% fat and 3,57% protein. If we ignore the loss of the winter allowance (which is paid from September to January), this is the first increase in nine months. The valuation of protein has remained the same at €5,70 per kilo.

As a result of the loss of the winter allowance, Vreugdenhil has to incur a significant loss Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator. While it has been head and shoulders at the top in recent months, the dairy processor has now fallen back to fifth place. This puts it just below A-ware, where the milk price in February is €33,33 per 100 kilos. Bel Leerdammer pays the highest basic price for February: €34,48 per 100 kilos.  

The maximum milk price of Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods also decreases by €3,46 per 100 kilos for the month of February, as a result of the disappearance of the winter bonus. This brings the maximum milk price to €34,52 per 100 kilos. It thus drops to last place in the price comparison Boerenbusiness, just below DOC Cheese. This dairy processor records a maximum milk price of €34,69 per 100 kilos in February.

Organic milk price up
The organic milk price rose for the second time in a row in February, by €0,50. This brings Vreugdenhil's organic price to €52,68 per 100 kilos. This excludes VAT and is based on an annual supply of 1,1 million kilos of milk, with 4,42% fat and 3,57% protein. The premiums for quality, sustainability and grazing are also included in this price, Vreugdenhil reports.

The increase in the organic price is mainly due to an increase in fat and protein prices. The fat price for February increases from €3,75 to €3,79 per kilo and the protein price for that month amounts to €8,58 per kilo. Last month that was still €8,49 per kilo.
