This decline does not entirely correspond to the sentiment in the market, but it can be easily explained. The milk price of Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods has plummeted considerably in February, because the winter allowance has expired. The dairy farmer shows a minus of €3,46 to €33,02 per 100 kilos. This should also give it the leading position in the Milk Price Comparator Boerenbusiness give up.
It does that Call Leerdammer, which records a basic milk price of €34,48 per 100 kilos for February. The price therefore remains stable compared to a month earlier. They have been at the top of the price comparison for weeks. Third place goes to FrieslandCampina, which recorded an increase of €0,75 in February, to €34,23 per 100 kilos.
In addition to Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods, which has fallen to 5th place in the Milk Price Comparator of Boerenbusiness, late too DOC Cheese see a decrease for the month of February. Perspective
The first milk prices for March have already been announced. From this we can conclude that a slight increase in milk prices can be expected next month. For example, Arla Foods and DOC Kaas as well as FrieslandCampina have already announced a price increase. This is also in line with expectations Rabobank. The bank stated in a new dairy update that the milk price will be stable to slightly increasing in the coming months, driven by a lower milk supply. In short: supply is decreasing, but demand remains strong. Dairy processors usually follow this trend with a delay of a few months.
