In modern Dutch agriculture, we cannot ignore agricultural nature management. Agricultural entrepreneurs live from and with nature, but more than ever they have to make this visible to the environment. This requires practical applications of agricultural nature management.
Practical and visible efforts in the field of 'nature-inclusive farming' are, for example flowery field margins, herbaceous grassland and bird fields. The application fits well into business operations and usually has financial support available through GLB and/or local ANVs or other initiatives.
In the new CAP, which will come into effect in 2023, the role of agricultural nature management will be even greater. It is therefore good to gain experience now with an integration that suits your company well.
Added value in business operations
There are various ways to apply this in a way that contributes to your business. For example, at least productive plots or in corners and edges can herbaceous grassland provide a lot of work convenience with a delayed mowing date. It also provides healthy feed with extra vitamins, minerals and trace elements that improve animal health.
Sow field edges or corners on and around the yard with wildflowers is also a solution that requires little labor and provides a lot of work pleasure.
