Who paid the best milk price in March?

March was not a bad month for the development of milk prices. In general, milk prices were on the rise, there were only 2 dairy processors that did not increase the milk price. Who paid the best milk price and how does the average milk price move over March?

The average basic milk price in the Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator for March it is quoted at €33,73 per 100 kilos. The increase is driven by the majority of dairy processors. Only Bel Leerdammer and A-ware kept the milk price for March unchanged and therefore played no role in the average increase.

The changes in milk prices have created a new leader in the comparator. Cono increased the distance with Bel Leerdammer in March. This means that Cono has the highest basic milk price in March at €36,05 per 100 kilos. Bel Leerdammer shares second place with FrieslandCampina. Both charge a price of €34,48 per 100 kilos in the Netherlands Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator.

Vreugenhil has risen another spot and with a milk price of €33,64 is in fourth place above A-ware with a milk price of €33,33 per 100 kilos. No shifts have taken place in the lower regions. Arla still lists it at the bottom with DOC Cheese above it.

Maximum milk price
The average maximum milk price for March is €37,21. There have been no changes in the ranking in the price comparator. Cono is still at the top and has the highest price in the comparator for March at €40,55. Arla is at the bottom of the comparator with a maximum milk price of €34,27.

Milk prices April
Most of the prices for April have already been announced. Based on these milk prices, the average milk price for April will probably also increase. Processors have only announced rising milk prices. However, the milk prices of Vreugdenhil and Cono have yet to be announced. The milk supply is currently working towards the seasonal peak in the summer. But the current supply is still behind last year, partly due to the cold weather conditions. Supply therefore remains limited in the short term in combination with good demand. An immediate reduction in the milk price is not expected.
