Irish dairy farmers have been able to compare the milk prices of their customers since this month. They use this to check how the price paid by their own customer compares to that of the competitors. This is done via an app, which was developed on behalf of the Irish Association of Milk Suppliers (ICMSA).
The program gives dairy farmers the opportunity to compare the payment prices of the processors by entering volumes, contents and quality criteria themselves. ICMSA foreman, Pat McCormack, is pleased with the development.
According to McCormack, the tool now gives individual farmers clarity and with it power: "For a long time, farmers have asked questions about the performance of its milk customers. And although different comparisons have been made based on different methodologies, an individual farmer has never been in a position to price he receives based on volumes, contents and quality. This precise individual company comparison can now be made."
Milk price comparator Boerenbusiness
Boerenbusiness has been keeping track of the monthly milk price developments of 7 dairy processors in the Netherlands for many years. This allows dairy farmers to gain insight into how the own buyer of milk performs price-wise compared to competitors in that month. The Boerenbusiness milk price comparator also takes into account any bonuses and levies.
