Irish milk production shows strong growth in March. Milk supply is now at a record 848 million tons of milk. March has always seen the fastest seasonal growth for Ireland. This has to do with the good grass growth in the spring.
The Irish milk supply has significant seasonal fluctuations every year, which dairy company Glanbia has difficulty managing. Milk supply is also increasing. In March 2020, milk supply was still 745 million tons. Supply has therefore increased by no less than 13,8%.
The fact that the milk supply in Ireland continues to grow so strongly every year may be due to the good prospects on the international dairy market. Irish dairy prices have shown a significant increase in recent months, encouraging dairy farmers to produce more milk.
Irish dairy farmers can sell the milk they produce at the lowest cost price in Europe. This gives Irish dairy farmers a favorable growth position.
