The 7 Dutch milk processors participating in the Milk Price Comparator of Boerenbusiness all paid a higher milk price for the month of April. By how much has the average milk price increased and how is the milk price of the cooperative and private dairy producers developing?
The average basic milk price for April will be released in the Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator works out at €34,62 per 100 kilos at 4,42% fat and 3,57% protein and a delivery of 1 million kilos per year. This is an average of €1,03 per 100 kg more than was paid out in March. Dairy producers have therefore incorporated the rising prices on the dairy market in February and March of this year more into the milk price.
The basic milk price in the comparator is the price without generic surcharges and premiums. To also indicate the maximum payment capacity of the dairy producers Boerenbusiness also introduced the maximum milk price. This is the milk price for a dairy farmer who actually collects all allowances and premiums from his buyer. The average maximum milk price for April of this year is €38,24 per 100 kilos. This is €1,03 per 100 kilos more than in March.
Little has changed in the basic milk price at the top in terms of payment over the past month. Cono remains at the top with a price of €35,58 per 100 kilos, while FrieslandCampina distances itself from Bel Leerdammer with a milk price of €35,23 per 100 kilos. In March, both dairy companies were still in second place equal with a price of €34,48. Leerdammer's price rose less rapidly in April, but at €34,88 per 100 kilos it was just able to keep A-ware at bay.
The price of the private dairy group increases by €1,54 in April compared to March and amounts to €34,87 per 100 kilos. Arla's milk price also increased in April, increasing by €2,55 to €34,21 per 100 kilos. This means that Arla suddenly passes Vreugdenhil (€34,04) and DOC Kaas (€33,54), which were less able to increase their prices in April.

At the maximum possible milk price, A-ware has taken over the leading position from Cono. The maximum price of A-ware plusts by €1,54 to €41,12 per 100 kilos, thus breaking the €40 barrier. Cono already did this a month earlier, but the cheese company's maximum price increases less rapidly by €0,53 and amounts to €41,08. The other dairy producers continue to lag behind in the maximum premiums and allowances that can be achieved. For example, FrieslandCampina is in 3rd place in the comparator with a maximum milk price of €38,73 per 100 kilos.
