It is not the most ripe time for the trade in phosphate rights. Nevertheless, rights have been traded sparsely this week, although this has not been the case every week in the past period. The market is characterized by limited supply and quiet trading.
The trade in phosphate rights is at a low level. Supply and demand are both calm and traders confirm that the phone rings little. Selling no has not been an option so far, but the market does expect the supply to dry up somewhat. This obviously does not mean that there is no supply, but sellers are in no hurry and wait for higher prices.
Price fluctuations in May
This week the DCA quotation has increased slightly, by €1 per kilo. This closes the quotation for the month of May at €137 per kilo. That is slightly lower than the €138,50 with which the listing started in May. During the month the price dropped somewhat. Not only because of the limited supply, but also because of the quiet demand.
No crazy developments are expected in the coming weeks. When weather conditions improve, buyers have other priorities due to land works, among other things.
