The private dairy producers Farm Dairy in Lelystad and Veco Zuivel in Zeewolde will merge. Farm Dairy takes over Veco Zuivel, creating a medium-sized dairy supplier that processes 250 to 300 million liters of milk annually into products such as milk, butter, yoghurt, custard, quark and drinking yoghurt.
Both companies announced this on Wednesday (June 23). By merging, the companies are responding to the growing need among retailers for their own closed milk flow, often in collaboration with a group of dairy farmers. "This demand for more milk flows can only be met together and the volume of sustainable milk will grow at an accelerated rate," the statement reads.
Farm Dairy is a joint company of the De Bruijne family, who also own Farm Frites, and FrieslandCampina. The company declares that it attaches great value to sustainable milk flows, such as organic, On the way to PlanetProof and Beter Leven Keurmerk (BLK). Veco Zuivel is also active in organic and BLK certified and, in addition to cows, also goats' milk. "The partnership with Veco Zuivel enables us to significantly accelerate our strategy. We will now achieve the objectives we had for the coming years within a year," said Arend Bouwer, General Manager of Farm Dairy, in the statement.
Mid-sized dairy supplier
In the collaboration, 1 company with 2 production locations is chosen. the current factory in Lelystad of Farm Dairy and the location of Vezo Zuivel in Zeewolde. This also provides space for Veco's brand activities, such as Betsie's goat milk, Bessola, Flevomel and Vecozuivel organic. Farm Dairy and Vecozuivel jointly offer work to 200 employees. The acquisition still has to be approved by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM).
