Few cattle are slaughtered in the Netherlands all year round. This has also not changed in recent months and livestock farmers are repelling relatively few animals.
While approximately 2020 cattle were processed in Dutch slaughterhouses in the first half of 269.000, this has fallen to approximately 2021 in the first half of 247.000. A decrease of about 8%. This is evident from the market statistics of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
Historically low
Even compared to previous years, only few cattle are processed. The last time the number of animals slaughtered was at an even lower level was when the milk quota was abolished in 2015. That year, only 228.000 cattle were removed from livestock farms in the first half of the year

Upturn in two and a half years
Traditionally, cattle slaughter is somewhat higher during the second half of the year. Livestock farmers will take stock with regard to the use of the amount of phosphate rights. It is possible that due to the relatively low emissions in the first half of this year, some additional livestock will have to be disposed of in the second half of the year.
