The Dutch milk supply declined further in July. In June it was already clear that the dairy farms are delivering less milk to the processors. In July this difference became even greater.
In total, Dutch dairy farms produced just under 1,14 million tons of milk in July. Compared to the same month last year, this is a decrease of only 3,1%. In June, the milk supply was also below last year's level, but at the time the decrease was slightly smaller at 2,2%. The average daily production in July was 36.729 tons of milk compared to 37.895 tons in 2020 and 37.606 tons in June this year.
Total fat production was 48.102, which is 3,7% below last year's level. The average fat percentage for the month of July was 4,23%, which is 0,02% lower than last year.
That there was less milk available, This was already apparent from the DCA dairy quotations. These are on average above last year's level and the increase is due to tight availability. The price increase continues in August and the DCA quotation of Dutch spot milk is €41,50 per 100 kilos. That is considerably higher than in previous years.
