Yili, the largest dairy group in China and also active in the Netherlands, can successfully look back on the performance in the first half of 2021. Both turnover and profit figures show strong growth.
Turnover increased by almost 20% between January and July to 56,5 billion Chinese Yuan, which translates to €7,3 billion. Profits even increased by 42% to 5,3 billion Yuan. In light of the corona crisis and its negative impact on the global dairy market, the figures are impressive.
Yili itself owes the growth figures to the good sales of branded dairy, on which the group is increasingly focusing. Due to changing consumer behavior as a result of the corona pandemic, Yili is also focusing on e-commerce without merit.
Beyond FrieslandCampina and Fonterra
With the strong half-year figures, Yili's advance continues. The production capacity is now almost 14 million tons per year. In the past year, Yili entered the top 5 of the largest dairy groups in the world, surpassing FrieslandCampina and Fonterra, among others. In our country, the Chinese dairy group has an R&D center on the Wageningen Campus.
