Italian milk production has been at high levels for several months now. Milk supply to processors was also significantly higher in July than in the same month last year. The Polish milk lake has shown a small contraction for the first time since February this year.
Italian milk production increased by no less than 61.000 tons to a volume of 1.026.850 tons. That is 6,3% more than the 965.000 tons delivered to Italian processors last year. The milk supply was also considerably higher than the 5-year average of 986.000 tons. Compared to this average, milk production in July was 4,1% higher this year. Milk production has been quite stable for several years, but has now been well above last year's supplies and the 3-year averages for 5 months now.
Polish milk production did not grow further in July
In Poland, milk production has not grown further after the strong increase earlier this year. Polish livestock farmers delivered 1.067.870 tons of milk to factories in July. That was 12.000 tons (1,1%) less than in the same month last year. Because milk production in Poland increased for a long time before this, the milk supply in July was still well above the 5-year average level of 1.055.070 tons. This means that 1,2% more will be milked this year than on average in July over the past 5 years. Polish milk production is expected to slowly decline further seasonally to the annual low in December.
