The German DMK Group limits its interest in Fude+Serrahn. As a result, DMK loses formal control over Germany's largest dairy trading house. A sale price of the interest has not been disclosed.
DMK is the largest German dairy cooperative with a turnover of €5,8 billion, and until now also had a majority share of 51% in Fude+Serrahn. The Hamburg-based trading house reported 2019 revenue of €1,1 billion and a profit of €8 million.
Competitor
Fude+Serrahn has increasingly become a dairy producer itself in recent years. It has a large position on the German butter and cream market with several of its own factories, which in some cases it acquired from DMK. This made it a kind of competitor to the parent company. In addition to butter and cream, Fude+Serrahn also produces desserts.
With the increase of its own interest from 49 to 90% by Fude+Serrahn, a majority interest in whey processor Biolac will also go to the German trading house. With the limitation of its interest, DMK has indicated that it wishes to further concentrate on its core activities in the production of consumer dairy and baby food.
