Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods has commissioned a new, but also more efficient and economical drying tower in Gorcum. It is part of a wider modernization of the factory.
The total processing capacity is not expected to change much, project leader Albert Mighout expects. Expanding capacity was also not the intention. The new installation had to be located in the same place where a more than forty-year-old drying tower had stood. If the new tower has fewer disruptions and is completely optimized, the final drying capacity may be slightly greater. But that is an effect in the category of unplanned windfalls, says Mighout. With the rapidly rising energy prices, a more economical installation is also very welcome.
Five cranes were hired to replace and hoist the new tower who performed the operation very carefully. Because the replacement of the tower should not disrupt production, the new tower was already built on another part of the site. This way the tower could be placed immediately once the old tower was removed.
