Supermarket PLUS comes with a bird-friendly cheese

3 November 2021 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 2 comments

Supermarket chain PLUS comes under its own house brand with a bird-friendly cheese. A full-fat cheese is made under the Klaverland Boerenbuiten label, whose milk comes from four Frisian dairy farms that pay extra attention to meadow birds and biodiversity. Plus works together with the start-up De Fryske for this.

The milk comes from 4 dairy farms in Friesland, which also supply milk to De Fryske. The dairy farms receive a surcharge on the milk price for the milk they supply to PLUS. Klaverland Farmers Buiten is a full-fat cheese made from non-skimmed milk. It is also a cheese that is naturally matured, free of dyes and E numbers and suitable for vegetarians, PLUS reports.

The Fryske is founded in 2017 by Catharinus Wierda and wants to distinguish itself in the market with milk produced by dairy farms that pay extra attention to meadow bird management. The dairy farms "farm in a less intensive way and are committed to more biodiversity. Nature is given all the space so that meadow birds such as the black-tailed godwit can survive", PLUS motivates in a statement.

Better composition of milk
"At least 20% of the farmland is hardly fertilized. The farmers deliberately keep the land wet and only mow the grass after the breeding season. The cows that produce the milk are outside in the meadow for at least 180 days a year and are given as much natural grass as possible. ensures a better composition of the milk," continues the supermarket chain.

Marcus Husselman, Category manager PLUS, says in the statement: "By consciously choosing products from Dutch farmers who are extremely committed to birds and the landscape, meadow birds have a better chance to stay in our landscape. We are proud that the Vogelbescherming includes our bird-friendly cheese Klaverland Boerenbuiten in the Zuivelwijzer." This so-called bird-friendly dairy guide According to the organization, van de Vogelbescherming reports the places where bird-friendly dairy products (cheese, milk and yogurt) are for sale.

And just creating crumbs, doing a great job cutting up a really nice product like milk in all kinds of crap qualities, it drives the consumer crazy.
Milk from a meadow with meadow birds is no better than milk from a meadow without these birds.
You should not contaminate a product like milk with all kinds of nonsense.
If you want to do meadow bird management, the government has other subsidy options there.
Stay away with that nonsense with a beautiful product like milk

meadow bird milk, cannot be labeled in any other way, as milk, where the food contains manure, what comes from those birds, is that which is a beautiful story, it is the reality.
You can no longer respond.
