FrieslandCampina's milk powder factory in Aalter was officially transferred to Royal A-ware this week. The forty employees directly involved have been employed by Royal A-ware. In the coming period, a significant number of investments will be made to modernize the existing installations and expand production capacity.
This has been announced by both parties. Because this work is immediately started, production will not be at full power for the time being. As a result, there is milk left over, but A-ware has already found a destination for it.
Recruitment continues
Milk has been collected from Flemish suppliers since 1 July reports A-ware. New dairy farmers are still being added every month. In this context, three meetings were again held last week with interested farmers. The recruitment of new suppliers will continue for the foreseeable future, even though A-ware says it is ahead of schedule. COO Robert van Ballegooijen: "We are pleased that, after a long preparation, we can finally start. The knowledge and experience of the employees in Aalter and the availability of high-quality milk in the Flanders region, together form an excellent basis for setting up a successful chain together with our customers. In order to achieve further growth, we are still looking for enterprising dairy farmers in Flanders who want to work with us for the long term."
Director Belgium appointed
To ensure that the expansion of the activities in Belgium runs smoothly, Luc Lamberigts has been appointed as managing director of A-ware Belgium with effect from 1 November. He first worked at FrieslandCampina and before that at the Irish Ornua. He works together with Luc van Hoe, who is the director of dairy farming.
