The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) has been insisting for years that something should be arranged about this. The European self-control directive would require a new system to be set up for this purpose. There is discussion about that. Substance registration is also arranged through Medirund and IKB, among others.

According to the founders RundNL individual cattle farmers have their work cut out for them with regard to beef assurance. As a collective, this takes the next step in transparency and assurance of quality, public health and animal welfare in the cattle sector. This gives added value to beef of Dutch origin.

In addition to MKS Cattle, the organization is concerned with Quality Criteria for cattle farming (Good Husbandry Practice (GHP)) and the management of information in the Food Chain Information (VKI) form.
The foundation will connect as much as possible with existing assurance systems such as Q-Rund (from Qlip), IKB-Rund (from KIWA) and IKB Nederland (from Producert).

There is now a lot of discussion among beef farmers about the arrival of RundNL. An important question for many is what the mandatory substance monitoring will bring. The chosen foundation form makes many livestock farmers somewhat suspicious. Beef farming is very fragmented, but due to the chosen structure, participation from non-organized parties seems difficult to achieve. Every cattle farmer is therefore asked to register once online via the RundNL site to enable the link with the existing assurance systems, according to the new foundation.

The introduction of an MKS system for beef cattle will not only affect beef farming. Dairy farmers also have to deal with this, because the milked dairy cows must also be included in the database.
