Supervision of healthy cows task of veterinarian

15 November 2021 - Klaas van der Horst

Paul Blokhuis, outgoing State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport, has put an end to a lingering difference of opinion about the supervision of raw milk production. Designated, independent veterinarians are responsible for this, he explains in an explanation. Supervision cannot therefore take place within a private control system, such as KoeMonitor.

A passage from the text with which State Secretary Blokhuis provides clarity in the discussion.

The official supervision of farm milk production is the task of independent veterinarians who may not be part of a private system. The veterinarians of the Certified Veterinarians Foundation (SGD) have been appointed for this supervision since the end of 2019, but there remained a lingering discussion about the precise tasks and whether the SGD veterinarians would work within the KoeMonitor system, or entirely. apart from that. The COKZ also failed to provide definitive clarity, despite this several attempts to bring the discussion to an end.

It has now been established that KoeMonitor is a control system of the business community itself. The COKZ supervises this. In addition, certified veterinarians must carry out farm supervision of milk production and animal health based on the so-called BGP tool of the SGD. However, the veterinarians do not have to carry out additional checks for this. The work can be combined with other tasks.
