The milk supply in Australia is also at a low level at the moment. The trend of recent months is thus continued over September.
Dairy farmers in the country supplied 867.670 tons of milk in September. That is 28.000 tons less than in September 2020, when 895.670 tons of milk was supplied by companies to the processing industry. This amounts to a decrease of 3,1%.
Weakness since the start of the season
Milk supplies in Australia have been weak since the start of the new season last July. In addition to the milk volumes being below those of last year, they have also been below the five-year averages since July. The five-year average milk production for September is 884.590 tons. Milk production there will drop by approximately 18.000 tons this year. A minus of about 2%.
Drought
The milk pool in Australia has suffered a dent in recent years due to the extreme drought, especially in 2019. This led to a reduction in animal numbers. Although conditions seem more favorable this season, and various organizations predict growing milk production for this season, this does not yet seem to be materializing with the current production figures.
