ZuivelnNL has closed a gap in its budget

2 December 2021 - Klaas van der Horst

The ZuivelNL sector organization has - thanks to major cutbacks at the end of the year - again a balanced budget and a positive reserve. The contribution for next year will remain the same and at the same time a reserve of €1 million remains. This was announced by chairman Arjan Schimmel after the general meeting of members.

During the members meeting, the board approved the new budget. As of December 31, 2020, ZuivelNL was €0,9 million in the red. By cutting expenditure during this year, additional financial space has been created, which means that a positive reserve will remain next year; at least if no unexpected expenses are necessary. In total, trade organization ZuivelNL expects to be able to spend more than €10,3 million next year.

€2 million of this will be spent on the organization itself, the same amount on research and innovation and €1 million on matters related to food safety. These are the largest individual items. Compared to this year, the budget means an increase in the spending capacity by approximately €3 million. In addition to research, innovation and food safety, money is also allocated to animal health, animal welfare and sustainability.

Adjustment of theme groups
The groups 'Instruments' (formerly KringloopWijzer steering group) and 'Data' will have a separate theme group next year. The finances for this have been broken down in the budget. The majority of the research budget for research and development is spent on ongoing projects. "The budget for research and innovation is not yet fully up to standard, but it is moving towards the investment level that was usual before 2021. The budget includes an amount for the further development of KoeMonitor," says director Hubert Andela.
