November was not yet a bonus month in terms of milk price increases, as December has shown so far. Nevertheless, the rate of milk price increase appears to have increased even more in the eleventh month. In the previous two months, a small euro was added, this time it is about € 150 per 100 kilos.
The seven largest processors in the Netherlands added an average of €1,48 per 100 kilos to the milk price in November, compared to €0,98 per 100 kilos in October. In round amounts, the average (basic) milk price increased from €39,05 to €40,53 per 100 kilos of milk. The largest increase (€1,78) came from Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods, the calmest increases were DOC Kaas and Leerdammer (both by around €1,30).
Expressed in figures, the increases are even more striking:
The maximum milk prices, including all surcharges, are much higher, as is the Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator shows. The average is €44,00 per 100 kilos, while the leaders (Cono and A-ware) pay €46,28 per 100 kilos.
The accelerated milk price increase has its downside in the milk supply. This has fallen at an accelerated pace since September, especially in the Netherlands and Germany. This exacerbated the shortage on the dairy market.
Meanwhile, the extra money does not necessarily mean extra margin. Prices for energy in particular, but also for animal feed raw materials, have risen sharply.
