New maize varieties on the Recommended Variety List

14 December 2021

No less than eight Syngenta varieties are new to the Recommended Variety List in 2022. And several of them are at the very top for feed value yield.

In early silage maize, these are SY INVICTUS and BENCO. At 105 and 104 respectively, they are number 1 and 2 in VEM yield in the early group. SY HUMMER is also recommended for the first time.

With mid-early silage maize, SY NOMAD and SY DAKINI are the absolute top performers on the variety list, with 105 and 103 VEM yields, they are number 1 and 2 on the mid-early list. Both are Powercell varieties with the highest nutritional value and they excel in plant health and drought tolerance. SY FERONIA is the third newcomer here.

SY BRENTON and SY CALO are newly recommended on the grain list. They are early, firm grain/ccm types, with a good nutritional value when used as early silage maize.

In addition to the Recommended Variety List, there is also another variety bulletin for the ultra-early group. Here SY SILVERBULL has been tested for three years now and this variety confirms its high yield potential, top nutritional value and stability. This is Syngenta's earliest Powercell variety and is recommended for those looking for a very early, firm, healthy and head fire tolerant variety.
