Polish milk supply records small plus over October
Although the real growth seems to have faded somewhat in recent months, the Polish milk supply in October managed to squeeze out a small plus. Since June this year, milk production has fluctuated around last year's levels.

Polish dairy farmers delivered 1.004.450 tons of milk to processing companies in October. This means a minimum increase of about 6.000 tons compared to October 2020. A percentage increase of 0,5%. After years of strong growth in the milk pool, production has fluctuated around last year's volumes since June.
Above multi-year average
The growth of recent years is clearly reflected when the production figures for 2021 are compared with the five-year averages. The multi-year average milk production in October is 978.350 tons. This means that production this year is about 26.000 tons higher for this month, a plus of 2,7%.
'Green Deal threat to Polish milk lake'
The European Green Deal ratified this autumn (which outlines the contours for future agriculture) could threaten the profitability of the Polish dairy sector and thus the size of the Polish milk pool. This could lead to higher milk prices in the long term. warns a director of the Polish dairy cooperative SM Mlekpol. The company processes about 16% of the Polish milk supply and fears the consequences of higher animal welfare requirements and European ecological standards.
