In the past year, Hermen Vreugdenhil, as party leader of the ChristenUnie in the Provincial Council of North Brabant, established himself as a critical follower of Dutch nitrogen policy. In the fourth and provisionally last part of the Nitrogen Dialogues of Boerenbusiness Vreugenhil makes it clear to presenter Klaas van der Horst that he is annoyed by governments, such as the Province of Noord-Brabant, which do apply agriculture strictly along the nitrogen yardstick, but large industrial emitters do not.
According to Vreugdenhil, provincial authorities and the central government should stop enforcing with one eye closed. He encourages parties that disagree with this to continue raising the issue. The conversation with Hermen Vreugdenhil is the third part of the mini-series Nitrogen Dialogues. Klaas van der Horst previously spoke with Ghost Rotgers, John Spithoven en Jan Cees Vogelaar about their experiences with the special Dutch nitrogen policy.
