DOC Kaas is already paying supplementary payment for 2021

23 December 2021 - Wouter Baan

DOC Kaas already pays part of the supplementary payment for 2021 with the milk money payment for November. This is a windfall for the cooperative's member dairy farmers, all the more so because there has been no supplementary payment in recent years. What does the supplementary payment amount to?

The first part of the additional payment covers the period January to November and amounts to €0,43 per 100 kilos. This will meet the cooperative's members' liquidity needs, DOC said. Part 2 will be paid out in February, when the balance sheet for 2021 has been finalized. The total additional payment is expected to be around €1 per 100 kilos of milk.

No additional payment in previous years
The fact that DOC Kaas is paying a supplementary payment is certainly newsworthy. This did not happen in recent years. Although a supplementary payment of €2020 was paid out for 0,30, this was the result of deductions from the milk money during the year. This is not the case this year and the additional payment is a result of the operating result.

The average basic milk price for 2021 is €36,21 per 100 kilos, calculated at the standard Dutch contents for an annual delivery of 1 million. This puts DOC in the milk price comparator from Boerenbusiness to the tail group. In practice, the milk price is higher for many members due to premiums that can be achieved for vlogging and grazing. The additional payment is now on top of that.
