Phosphate law the most expensive in last week

29 December 2021 - Stef Wissink

The trade in phosphate rights will reach a peak at the end of this year. In November, trade was quite lukewarm and it was expected that the volume still to be traded in December could be disappointing. However, there has been quite a bit of trading for higher prices in recent weeks.

While the DCA quotation for phosphate rights took a step upwards last week, this is happening again this week. Purchase rights will increase in price by €6,50 this week and amount to an average of €158,50 for 100% usable rights. The prices for leasing rights also rose sharply again last week. Many leasing parties do not want to do business at a price level of €35 to €36 because this will hardly yield anything after taking the skimming off. Leasing parties have been reluctant for a long time, but are now pulling out their wallets to do business. The price for leasing rights in the last week amounts to an average of €39, which is €2,50 more than a week earlier.

Prices vary a bit more
The reported price quotes have varied somewhat between the various parties in recent days. The stated prices are between €155 and €161 euros. Brokers indicate that with the increase in quotations in recent days, the traded volume immediately decreased. Buyers are not simply willing to do a lot of trading at current prices. Yet again this year there appear to be parties that have to trade in the last week and therefore have little choice. This means that the trade in phosphate rights ends a relatively quiet year with a price peak.
