Cheese maker Lactalis Leerdammer is increasing the milk price for January by more than €1,30 per 100 kilos, thereby seeking a little more connection with FrieslandCampina, among others.
Leerdammer pays a basic milk price of €43,56 per 100 kilos for January. This is the price excluding VAT and for an annual supply of 1 million kilos, with 4,42% fat and 3,57% protein. This means that the processor is 2 cents per 100 kilos higher than DOC Cheese, but pays more than Arla and A-ware. However, it remains below the level of FrieslandCampina.
The maximum milk price of Leerdammer is €46,81 per 100 kilos. That is 52 cents more than DOC Kaas pays and €1,55 above Arla. On the other hand, it is €1,65 less than FrieslandCampina pays and €2,71 below A-ware's maximum.
Leerdammer, like a few other processors, has a number of suppliers with a group stable. With the arrival of a new owner (Lactalis), these have been given a little extra respite for the time being. The Bel Group was on the path to quickly phasing out group stables. This seems to be less of a priority for Lactalis.
Milk volume Leerdammer
Leerdammer is difficult to reach for comment, but according to various suppliers there have been a number of developments at the company. For example, Leerdammer lost a number of larger suppliers last year. They have switched to other processors. As a result, the total milk volume of the cheese maker in the Netherlands appears to have shrunk to around 700 million kilos.
