FrieslandCampina has been working on climate for a long time

17 January 2022 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 1 reaction

FrieslandCampina supports the Paris Agreement and the Dutch Climate Agreement. She has also been working successfully for years on reducing CO2 emissions and therefore does not feel immediately attracted by Milieudefensie's call last week to finally do something serious about the climate. It has been happening for a long time, the company makes clear.

"We have been working hard for years to reduce CO2 emissions, in our company and on the farms of the member dairy farmers. Our target for 2030 is an emissions reduction of 33% (compared to 2015), which means a 33% reduction of the greenhouse gases on the members' dairy farms and a 40% reduction in our own production chain," according to a statement from FrieslandCampina.

"Sustainability is one of FrieslandCampina's four strategic priorities ('Nourishing a better planet'). We have already achieved a lot and will continue to do so, within the company and on the farm. For example, making deforestation-free soy available for animal feed. , to the use of green energy at all our factories worldwide, the use of recyclable packaging, RMOs that run on sustainable fuels such as hydrogen and solar panels, windmills and manure digesters on our members' farms. We have also committed to international standards and measurement methods such as the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTI), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the Product Environmental Footprint (EU)."

Call for new cabinet
FrieslandCampina emphasizes that further sustainability efforts must continue, but is asking for help from the new cabinet and politicians in general. "We therefore call on the new cabinet and other parties to tackle this important subject jointly and constructively," it sounds from Amersfoort.
