The Belgian dairy company Milcobel starts the new milk price year with a plus. According to the company, the increase is the result of the continuing positive situation on the international dairy markets and internal efficiency improvements.
The increase brings the standard milk price to €43 per 100 liters. This corresponds to a real milk price paid of €46,33 per 100 liters, with a fat content of 43 grams, a protein content of 35 grams and maximum premiums, the company reports.
Comparison at 1,3 million liters
With an annual supply of 1,3 million kilos, Milcobel's milk price, at actual contents, goes to €45,50 per 100 liters. That is higher than the €42,08 per 100 liters that Arla sets and also higher than the price of €45,20 that Royal A-ware pays. Cooperative LDA will not publish the milk price for January for less than a month.
Milcobel has significantly increased the milk price in recent months. In the month of December, a total bonus of €5,00 per 100 liters was given. Of this, €3,30 consisted of actual milk price increases and €1,70 of an extra loyalty premium.
Market 'very favourable' for powders and cream
According to the Belgian cooperative, the products continue to do very well in the market, including high sales prices for mozzarella. "Prices for powders, butter and cream also currently remain very favorable," it is stated. The combination of powders and cream yields better returns in the market than cheese and whey.
