Private equity aims at dairy brand Friso

The Canadian Bain Capital and the American Carlyle Group are mentioned as potential buyers for Friso, FrieslandCampina's dairy brand. A Chinese dairy producer is also mentioned as interested.

The sales plans regarding Friso have been going on for some time. It was suggested a year ago and we stopped at the end of last year the sounds head up again. FrieslandCampina does not want to confirm the rumors, but does indicate that it is investigating the strategic options regarding Friso.

Private equity
Now Bloomberg reports - based on anonymous sources - that there is interest from various private equity companies. The Canadian Bain Capital and the American Carlyle Group, among others, are said to be seriously interested. Baring Private Equity Asia is also mentioned as a possible buyer. It is also striking that Shijiazhuang Junlebao Dairy emerges as a candidate. This is a large dairy producer from China, whose shares are owned by a private equity company.

FrieslandCampina has reportedly engaged investment bank JP Morgan to supervise the sale. The value of Friso is estimated at around $2 billion.
