Royal A-ware and Hoogwegt will collaborate intensively for the sale of milk powders and cream that Royal A-ware produces in Aalter (Belgium). Both parties concluded a long-term agreement for this at the end of December. The collaboration strengthens the core activities of both family businesses, they report.
For Hoogwegt, the collaboration provides a solid basis to ensure a reliable supply of milk powders and cream. “We are very happy with this collaboration,” says Patrick van Leuven, managing director of Hoogwegt International. "We were already very familiar with milk powders from Aalter. In the future, we will further develop the product portfolio together with Royal A-ware," he says.
Royal A-ware started the production of milk powder and cream in Aalter in November 2021. "Hoogwegt is a large family business with similar genes to Royal A-ware. Thanks to this long-term collaboration, we can also use their years of experience and expertise in the sale of dairy products and have direct access to their global network. This fits in Royal A-ware's strategy to grow with long-term partnerships," said CEO Jan Anker of Royal A-ware.
Royal A-ware achieved a turnover of around €1,8 billion last year, the Hoogwegt Group achieved a turnover of around €2020 billion in 2,9. This family business has traditionally also done a lot of business with FrieslandCampina. When Coberco, a predecessor of FrieslandCampina, took over the De Kieviet factory in Meppel from the Hoogwegt Group in 1998, this company received the milk powder sales from Frieslandfoods. Royal A-ware makes cheese, cream, butter and milk powders in factories in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.
