Organic milk prices lag behind euros
Organic milk prices lagged behind conventional milk prices in 2021, certainly in the second half of the year. Organic milk prices rose by an average of around €6,00 per 100 kilos, while conventional milk prices rose by an average of €11,00 to €11,50 per 100 kilos. The price increases were also much more gradual than in the mainstream sector.

The organic dairy farmers were also lucky, because in a country like France the price of organic dairy farmers even declined.
Price difference drops to €12,00
But even though the organic milk price on average gave up a little ground on the conventional milk price, on average there remained a price difference of about €12,00 per 100 kilos over the entire year. The arithmetic mean of the five organic prices Boerenbusiness compared to each other, last year it amounted to €50,43 per 100 kilos. An average of around €38,40 per 100 kilos is calculated for the current milk price (basic price plus grazing allowance).
This is clearly visible on the basis of the graph below with FrieslandCampina's conventional and organic milk prices. However, the graph line for the organic milk price is distorted by the seasonal premiums and deductions at the cooperative.
FrieslandCampina did not pay the highest organic (advance) milk price last year. This may be due to the comparison with organic milk prices elsewhere, where the price is often lower. This is also the case at Arla. The organic milk price is relatively low for both.
Cooperative Eko-Holland and Royal A-ware far exceeded the prices paid by FrieslandCampina and Arla. Royal A-ware even paid about €5,50 per 100 kilos more than FrieslandCampina did.
In the new year 2022, the organic milk price at the major processors continued to rise, but this time too the price increase was lower than for conventional milk.
