CEO of dairy company Lactalis immediately gone

7 February 2022 - Wouter Baan

Philipe Palazzi will step down as CEO of Lactalis with immediate effect. Officially due to a difference of opinion about the price, although further details are not disclosed. Palazzi was active for only thirteen months and under his rule the Dutch Leerdammer was incorporated.

The exact reasons for Palazzi's sudden departure are coffee grounds. In a short statement, the French dairy group indicates that there is a difference of opinion about the strategy. Palazzi would not have met the conditions to implement the strategy. However, he has achieved the financial target for 2021.

Palazzi resigned from his duties on 3 February. He started his job as CEO at the beginning of last year and has therefore already had to leave the field after thirteen months. In March last year, it was announced under his leadership that Lacatalis was going to take over the Dutch cheese brand Leerdammer from the Bel Group. In August, this takeover approved by the competition authorities. In terms of turnover, Lactalis is the second largest dairy group in the world after Nestlé, as calculated by Rabobank last year.
