French dairy farmers supplied 2,9% and 3,2% less milk to processing companies in November and December respectively. Since September, supply figures have been significantly down compared to one year earlier. Despite the high dairy prices, there is no recovery as yet.

Annual production also below 2020 levels
The significant decline in milk production figures in the second half of the year has ensured that the total French milk production for last year was also lower than the year before. Supplies fell from 24.604.580 tonnes in 2020 to 24.257.620 tonnes in 2021. The percentage decline of 1,4% in the second largest European dairy country therefore contributes significantly to the tight supply of dairy in Western Europe.
