Eko-Holland, the cooperative of organic dairy farmers, is increasing the advance price for the month of March. It thus follows, at some distance, the movements of Arla and FrieslandCampina.
Arla announced that it will increase the organic milk price by €2,10 per 100 kilos, to €56,50 per 100 kilos. FrieslandCampina increased by €2,25 per 100 kilos to €56,70 per 100 kilos. Eko-Holland follows these increases and increases the milk price by €1,50 per 100 kilos. This brings the price to €55,55 per 100 kilos. In all cases, the milk prices are exclusive of VAT, for an annual supply of 1 million kilos and apply to 3,57% protein, 4,42% fat (and 4,51% lactose).
Royal A-ware announced an increase in the organic milk price for March by €2,25 to €58,03 per 100 kilos.
What is striking in this series of price increases is that all dairy companies have increased significantly for the month of March than in previous months. Yet the distance between conventional and organic milk prices has become very small. This is particularly clear at Royal A-ware, where there is only just over €5,00 price difference between the usual Albert Heijn line and the organic milk price.
