February milk price takes a small step up

The average milk price in the Netherlands rose by a small step in February. That step was even smaller than in January. This is apparent from a comparison of all published prices by Boerenbusiness.

These two companies did add extra money to the monthly statement. DOC Kaas, part of DMK, made the biggest impression with another big plus: +€2,14 per 100 kilos. As a result, the company not only achieved the highest basic milk price in February, but also the highest meadow milk price. Cono Kaasmakers followed with a plus of €1,60 per 100 kilos. Vreugdenhil added €1,33 per 100 kilos. At the last company, the winter milk surcharge of €3,90 disappeared in February, causing the milk price to drop slightly. A-ware added €1,10 per 100 kilos.

The arithmetic average (for the basic milk price) was exactly €0,33 per 100 kilos higher than in January. This amounts to €44,23 versus €43,90 per 100 kilos. The average meadow milk price, which is the actual price for the majority of all dairy farmers, amounted to €45,73 per 100 kilos in February.

The maximum milk price averaged €47,96, with A-ware - with a price of €50,62 per 100 kilos - paying the highest. This is the amount that participants in the Albert Heijn line receive. About half of all suppliers at A-ware pay this milk price.
