Drop in milk supply in US no incident

Milk production in the 24 largest states of the United States amounted to 7574.992 tons in December. Compared to the same month one year earlier, this is a decrease of 0,7%. In January, milk supplies dipped into the red for the first time and that trend continues. From this you can conclude that the high feed costs - due to the high grain prices - outweigh the also increasing milk price.
However, the number of registered dairy cows increased again in February for the first time in a long time. Compared to January, an increase of 3.000 animals was visible, for a total of 8,88 million. However, compared to the animal numbers a year earlier, there has been a reduction of 77.000 cows
Dairy market 'bullish'
Just as in Europe, the price of milk in the United States is increasing significantly. The milk price (class 3) now converts to almost €50 per kilo.
