FrieslandCampina increases the guaranteed price for April by €2 per 100 kilos compared to March. The cooperative dairy group assumes that the milk supply will continue to lag behind and that the demand for dairy products and raw milk will remain good. FrieslandCampina announced this today (Monday 28 March).
A further translation of the expectations outlined above is that the milk prices of the reference companies will increase further, as a result of which FrieslandCampina will have to increase the milk price.
Difference with Arla
With this step, FrieslandCampina deviates considerably from what Arla a week earlier did. Arla increased the April price by only €0,50 per 100 kilos. It must be said that Arla actually took a big step up in March in terms of milk payment, while FrieslandCampina increased slightly more modestly. From the Boerenbusiness milk price comparator it emerges that FrieslandCampina pays a higher milk price than Arla and also appears to be at a structurally slightly higher level.
Smaller plus organic
FrieslandCampina's organic guaranteed price for April is €1,25 higher than last month and amounts to €55,50 per 100 kilos. This increase is based on higher organic reference prices in the recent period and the expectation that the organic prices of raw milk from the reference companies will rise further due to the continued good demand for organic dairy products.
