The German dairy cooperative DMK is scaling up in plant-based dairy and dairy alternatives. The product portfolio of the 'Milram' brand is being expanded with vegetable desserts and cocoa milk.
DMK identifies changing views in society, politics and the economy, leading to different consumer trends. Including the consumption of vegan dairy. “As a company, we see benefits from this development,” said DMK CEO Ingo Müller.
Müller indicates that plant-based dairy should also score well in terms of taste and health value. In the meantime, DMK continues to develop the vegan line. New products will be launched by the first quarter of 2023 at the latest.
'No sensitive point'
For the Dutch members of DOC Kaas, which is a shareholder of DMK, the focus on plant-based dairy is not a sensitive issue. Recently, chairman Guus Mensink in an interview that plant-based dairy benefits the operating result and thus the milk price of the members.
