Dairy company Royal A-ware is the first of the larger processors in Belgium to exceed the limit of € 50,00 per 100 liters of milk. The real milk price for April is bad after the most recent increase in this limit.
There is a chance that others will follow the Belgian processors, given that milk prices are still on the rise. But competitor Arla now pays a few euros less per 100 liters. Other large processors, such as Milcobel and Laiterie des Ardennes, do not publish their milk prices for the month of April until later.
Suppliers of A-ware receive a standard milk price for April (at legal levels) of €48 per 100 litres. With real contents and an annual supply of 1,3 million litres, the price is €50,95 per 100 litres. This is €1,50 more than the milk price for March. The same increase is also in the Netherlands implemented.
Milcobel pays a milk price of €48,20 for March (under the same conditions). To reach the same price level as A-ware, an increase of €2,75 per 100 liters is necessary. Cooperative Laiterie des Ardennes has yet to determine a milk price for March, but was relatively close behind the milk price of A-ware in February.
