FrieslandCampina has increased the guaranteed price for May by no less than €4,00 per 100 kilos. This breaks another record, because for the first time the company has broken the €50,00 barrier, and that too with a generous margin.
With a guaranteed price for May of €52,50 per 100 kilos, not only does this milk price exceed €50,00 per 100 kilos, the bare milk price does too. According to de Boerenbusiness milk price comparator for May it will be €51,73 per 100 kilos. The meadow milk price goes to €53,23 per 100 kilos, while the maximum milk price goes to €56,43 per 100 kilos. This last price only applies to the group of members who can supply PlanetProof milk.
Lagging milk supply
According to FrieslandCampina, the increase in the guaranteed price is based on higher milk prices from a number of reference companies in the past period and on the expectation that the raw milk prices of the reference companies will rise further. This is due to the lack of milk supply in the European Union and the continued demand for dairy products.
FrieslandCampina also increases the organic guaranteed price. That will increase by €1,75 for May to €55,50 per 100 kilos. As a result, this price is only €3,00 per 100 kilos above the usual guaranteed price. This increase is also based on higher organic reference prices in the past period, as well as on the expectation that the organic raw milk prices of the reference companies will rise further due to the continuing demand for organic dairy products. According to the Boerenbusiness organic milk price comparator FrieslandCampina's organic milk price for a volume of 1 million kilos goes to €57,18 per 100 kilos. Normally, Arla is the first to publish the milk price for a new month. This time FrieslandCampina is ahead of the Northern European competitor.
