On average, the organic milk price has difficulty keeping up with the pace of price increases in the conventional dairy market. With Arla, however, it's a different story.
The organic milk price comes from the Scandinavian dairy giant Arla, according to the Boerenbusiness organic milk price comparator, out at an amount of €63,42 per 100 kilos. That is almost €13 more than the usual milk price, and no less than €6 more than the comparable FrieslandCampina milk price.
Arla has increased the organic milk price for May by €3,55, compared to April. FrieslandCampina gained €1,75 from the April milk price. The Dutch market leader for organic milk, Eko-Holland, has raised even more modestly. At this cooperative, the advance price for the month of May went to €57,80 per 100 kilos, with an annual supply of 1 million kilos of milk.
Largest organic milk lake in the world
Arla claims to have the largest organic milk lake in the world. In total this concerns a volume of about 1 billion kilos. Most of Arla's organic dairy farmers are located in Scandinavia and Great Britain.
