Royal A-ware will start a second milk flow in Belgium from 1 June 2022. In addition to conventional milk, the processor will also collect meadow milk. In the initial phase, a limited number of dairy farmers can deliver. The milk volume and the number of suppliers are gradually being increased.
Dairy farmers who want to supply meadow milk receive a premium of €1,00 per 100 liters of milk, on top of the regular milk price. The premium is paid monthly from April to September.
The requirements for the supply of meadow milk are: Grazing Foundation used. MCC Flanders is appointed to monitor this.
Need milk for two companies
The meadow milk is needed for the companies in Kruibeke and Olympia. Until recently, the first was part of the Hollebeekhoeve. Their dairy installations were taken over from the bankruptcy and are now fully operational again. Milk, yoghurt and 'flat cheese' are produced. In addition, a proposed takeover of dairy processor Olympia was recently submitted to the Belgian Competition Authority (BMA) for approval. Meadow milk is also being sought for this company.
