A-ware has committed itself to the new tax code of conduct drawn up by the employers' organization VNO NCW. For the time being, the dairy group is the only agribusiness company that will report publicly on the tax payment.
In the so-called Tax Governance Code, companies promise not to use tax havens. It also provides insight into how much tax is paid and to what extent tax deductions are used. In short, companies make their tax obligations transparent to the outside world. According to VNO NCW chairman Ingrid Thijssen, the bar in the code of conduct is high.
More than forty companies, including all Dutch companies in the AEX (such as Shell, KLM, Unilever and Phillips) have signed the code of conduct. Together with Rabobank and Jumbo, A-ware is currently one of the few unlisted companies in the list. VNO NCW expects more companies to sign the code of conduct.
