FrieslandCampina gives the guaranteed price for June a plus of €4,00 per 100 kilos. The dairy giant thus repeats the price step of a month earlier. The organic milk price received an extra boost compared to a month earlier, but is now only €3,00 higher than the usual milk price.
FrieslandCampina will return in June for conventional milk a guaranteed price of €56,50, for organic milk the guaranteed price is equal at €59,25 per 100 kilos.
The current milk price increase contains part of the market effect and part of expectations, FrieslandCampina indicates. Due to the still lagging milk supply at a global level, it can be expected that the payout prices of the companies it mirrors will continue to rise, according to the company.
The increase that FrieslandCampina is now implementing is not enough to stay ahead of competitor Arla, according to de Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator. Arla pays a basic milk price of €55,82 per 100 kilos with an annual supply of 1 million kilos, FrieslandCampina pays out €55,73.
Grazing pays off at RFC more
Companies that use meadow grazing are better off with FrieslandCampina, because this company pays € 57,23 per 100 kilos for meadow milk. That's 91 cents more than what Arla pays for it. Anyone who goes for the maximum milk price will receive an extra one at FrieslandCampina. The condition is that farmers at FrieslandCampina participate in the Planet-Proof process.
On average over the first half of 2022, the members of FrieslandCampina received a basic advance milk price of €48,23 per 100 kilos. That's 60 cents more than the Arla members received.
Compared to the first half of last year, this is successively €13,18 and €12,03 per 100 kilos more. At the time, Arla paid an average of 43 cents per 100 kilos more in advance than FrieslandCampina did.
At Arla €8,00 more for organic
Meanwhile, the organic milk price paid by FrieslandCampina is lagging far behind the price paid by Arla. At FrieslandCampina the difference between the conventional and the organic milk price is about €3,50, at Arla about €12,00 per 100 kilos.
At Arla, an organic dairy farmer receives about €8,40 per 100 kilos more in June than at FrieslandCampina.
