Laiterie des Ardennes (LDA) pays out the highest milk price in Belgium in April, followed by A-ware. Milcobel worked his way up again in May. In Belgium it is a battle for the priority with the milk prices. This is apparent from the new milk price comparator that was launched today (June 1) Boerenbusiness has been launched for its subscribers, especially for the Belgian market.
In new comparator the current milk prices of the five largest processors in Belgium are compared. These are, in alphabetical order: Arla, A-ware, FrieslandCampina, Laiterie des Ardennes and Milcobel. The LDA milk price for April is €52,70 per 100 litres. That is €1,76 more than A-ware pays and €3,50 more than Milcobel pays out over April. FrieslandCampina pays out approximately the same amount (€49,25) as Milcobel.
Especially for Belgian readers
The new comparator is aimed at the Belgian reader, which is why the prices are presented in euros per litre. For the time being, a comparison volume of 1,3 million kilos per year is used. Not because this is the Belgian average, but because this is a market segment in which the most competition for the supplier takes place.
The ambition is to present a more extensive comparison in due course, but a complication is that the parties – partly in connection with the fierce competition for the dairy farmer – regularly adjust the delivery conditions, also in the middle of the year. Besides a price per liter, the Belgian milk prices differ from the Dutch milk prices with a different valuation for dry matter per liter and other volume premiums.
Boerenbusiness Milk price comparators
Boerenbusiness already has two comparison tools for the Dutch market: the Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator for the current milk prices and the comparator for the organic payout prizes.
