Milk price A-ware also in Belgium towards 60 euros

June 3, 2022 - Klaas van der Horst

Dairy company Royal A-ware increases the Belgian milk price for June by €4,00 per 100 litres. That is almost the same step as it is taking in the Netherlands. This means that A-ware exceeds the prices set by competitors FrieslandCampina and Arla, according to the Belgian Milk Price Comparator of Boerenbusiness.

The Belgian companies Milcobel and Laiterie des Ardennes will only announce their prices for June later.

With the latest increase, A-ware pays a price of €3,5 per 4,3 liters at real Belgian contents (1,3% protein and 58,14% fat) and an annual supply of 100 million liters. The milk price according to Belgian legal regulations is €55 per 100 liters.

For dairy farmers who supply meadow milk, the price is even €1 higher and amounts to €59,14 per 100 liters. The meadow milk price is paid during the period from April to September.

Search for suppliers
A-ware is still looking for new suppliers in Belgium for factories in Aalter, Kruibeke and Herne. Other parties are also looking for suppliers and/or members. Milcobel hopes to win back or retain suppliers and FrieslandCampina is also recruiting members in Belgium. At the end of June, even the top of the Dutch cooperative will go to Aalter to address farmers there.

At the same time, Arla is also committed to retaining members. This dairy giant opened a new large factory in Pronsfeld, in the German Eiffel last week. This is partly dependent on Belgian milk for supply.
